Property Management Accountant – Toronto

We are actively seeking a Property Management Accountant to join our Toronto Property Management team.  You will contribute to Hollyburn’s goals by preparing and maintaining financial and business transactions, applying accounting principles that include work that is analytical, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice. This position will support our Ontario properties, but will also work closely with our Head Office Accounting Team in Vancouver.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees Account Receivables by:
    • Reconciling the Resident Ledger with Building Managers;
    • Assisting Property Managers with commercial lease/collection letters;
    • Coordinating with the Vancouver Head office with weekly A/R reports and monthly rent billings;
  • Calculates/Post Rent Increases (CRRM Module)
  • Post Chargebacks/reversals / adjustments to Resident ledgers
  • Review Move In / Move out reports of Residents before submitting to Head Office
  • Post Deposits and NSF’s
  • Oversees and coordinates Digital Sub-Metering procedures and collections, and follows the hydro chargeback billing process;
  • Oversees the rent increase process, including performing Above Guidelines Increase (AGI) calculations, and/or attending AGI hearings, financials preparation and management and processing rent increases;
  • Oversees the invoicing and Purchase Order management system, including submitting PO approvals into the system and scanning invoices;
  • Orientates building staff and provides ongoing training on all corporate financial policies, such as Rent Deposits,

LMR’s, and Residential Tenant Regulations;

  • Oversees and coordinates the Approved Trades lists and its required documentation;
  • Enter new vendors to Yardi once qualified by Procurement Manager;
  • Creates custom reports as required;
  • Effectively communicates financial information to Property Managers and provides financial and analytical assistance as needed;
  • Support the PM’s by answering questions Residents may have regarding their rents, namely as it relates to AGI

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience accounting Property Management and/or Yardi related experience would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, budget planning and forecasting, and accounting procedures;
  • Must have comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of payables, receivables, bank reconciliations;
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non financial managers;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Excel;
  • Ability to work under pressure, with time constraints even as priorities change and urgencies intervene;
  • Must be comfortable with IT and computers, previous experience
  • Ability to train and educate others is a definite
  • Must be a Resident of Canada or possess the appropriate documentation to legally work in Canada. All documentation must be current.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid 19 and have the ability to show proof of vaccination, unless you are not able to obtain the vaccine for medical reasons or any other protected grounds.
