National Training & Development Manager – Operations

As Hollyburn grows,  so does our Training Team!  This newly created role will be expected to further advance the quality and effectiveness of training programs currently offered within Hollyburn while providing leadership to the Operational Training Managers.  Our Training Management team is responsible for supporting the Operational Division of Hollyburn in delivering quality orientation and training programs to Resident Mangers, Assistant Resident Managers and Cleaners, while helping to assess the current and future needs of development for the Operational Team.  While the position will be based in Vancouver, this role will require the successful candidate to travel and train in Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa when required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and update as necessary, the Standard Operating Procedures Manual to ensure that all operational team members are operating and conforming to Hollyburn’s best practices;
  • Responsible for supporting the Operational Training Managers in providing the delivery of the initial two weeks of training for new Team Members; New Hire Operational Orientation  & Training for all new Cleaners, ARM & RM’s, including but not limited to;  Hollyburn Policies & Procedures, Residential Tenancy Act, Sales Techniques, Cleaning and Maintenance procedures, Health & Safety, WHMIS, Tenant Relations, etc.;
  • Work with the Property Management, Health & Safety, Human Resources and other teams to develop new & innovative individual and group training programs for new and existing team members that address specific needs of the company;
  • Manage the quality assurance deployment of new & updated applications in property management operations through functional testing and workflow validation, before implementation to front-line operations;
  • Triage property management and IT trouble tickets, in order to analyze and provide feedback on training program effectiveness and training needs within the operations;
  • Create, develop and maintain a “Hollyburn University” style certification program. Ensuring content is up to date and relevant;
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to the Operational Training Mangers;
  • Responsible for tracking & coordinating both internal and 3rd party training (First Aid, AODA, WHMIS, Environmental, CRB, etc.);
  • Create Annual Training Plan and monthly Training Calendar for national distribution in conjunction with Property Management team;
  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service to both internal and external individuals;
  • Works on-site at various properties;
  • Reviewing/revising training and development plans as necessary to ensure that they conform to the changes in technology and employee programs;
  • Monitors training evaluation systems;
  • Create innovative training programs by researching best practices within our Industry;
  • Coaches, counsels, motivates, engages and inspires Team Members to grow within the company;
  • Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous history of developing, facilitating and supervising training programs for a minimum of 2 years
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience writing policies and procedures is required
  • Previous Resident Manager, Housekeeping and/or Maintenance Experience is required;
  • Strong IT skills is an asset
  • Able to create, write and present curriculum for various training programs
  • Ability to communicates effectively with employees, managers and Residents;
  • Strong administrative skills, organized and meticulous;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Possess a positive attitude, mature and be a self-starter;
  • Ability to be flexible, work independently and in a team environment where mutual support is essential;
  • A team player who is able to work independently in a highly pressurized and fast paced environment;
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & Yardi 7S);
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism to set standards for others;
  • Ability to evaluate objectively the performance of Team Members;
  • Must be comfortable presenting in large groups;
  • Must be able to travel, have a flexible work schedule and work evenings and weekends on occasion;
  • Must have a vehicle;
  • Must be able to travel to other provinces on occasion;
  • Ability to respect confidentiality of information;
  • Be physically able to carry out all necessary duties.  All candidates must be physically able, at minimum, to paint and clean, including bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50lbs;
  • Must be a Resident of Canada or possess the appropriate documentation to legally work in Canada. All documentation must be current.
