Accounting Operations Manager

The Accounting Operations Manager contributes to Hollyburn’s goals by providing relevant financial information support for senior management decisions. This position is responsible for overseeing the provision of full cycle property management accounting services, preparation and analysis of operational reports, and implementing improvements to accounting processes and departmental controls.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Senior Management and Property Managers on matters relating to the ongoing accounting operations to ensure effective information sharing between the Property Management Department and Accounting;
  • Prepare financial analysis to assist asset and property management in various real estate asset management decisions and strategies;
  • Provide timely preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reporting packages for the various private entities, ensuring that the financial statements are accurate and in accordance with statutory requirements;
  • Coordinate with Western Region Accounting Operations to strengthen accounting guidelines and policies, improve accounting processes, and build out appropriate business and internal controls.
  • Involved in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices as required.
  • Create a culture of accountability where employees are personally committed to achieving results.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements for numerous legal entities.
  • Reviews the accounting information and reports prepared by the accounting team to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts; DUP
  • Provide direction, coaching, support and guidance to team members.


  • Hold CPA or CMA Designation;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an accounting management position.
  • Experience in property management accounting an asset.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial managers;
  • Proficient in the use of the YARDI accounting platform and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Previous supervisory experience required ;
  • Ability to work under pressure, with time constraints even as priorities change and urgencies intervene;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interface with Management and all levels of employees across the company;
  • Detail oriented with sound analytical skills;
  • Ability to be flexible and self-motivated and to take initiative;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment where mutual support is essential;
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think quickly;
  • Ability to display a high level of professionalism
